Next time you visit our retail location, you will have the distinct pleasure to interact with one or more of our TUS team members, more affectionately known as TUSsies! Here you’ll find a brief description of all our current TUS team members.
Lisa Beggs purchased TUS in April 2009 after running a successful home staging business. She expanded the store in the same location twice, growing from 900 ft2 in 2009 to a smartly decorated 3,600 ft2 boutique style retail uniform store. Lisa has also earned Virginia Small Woman and Minority (SWAM), Women Business Enterprise (WBE) and Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) certifications. Lisa has a BS degree in Organizational Leadership and she is happily married to John, who is an electrical engineer. She has two miniature apricot Poodles named Callie and Mollie (featured on this page); one adult son, and three adult stepchildren. Lisa’s hobbies are yard sales, flea markets, antiques, decorating, fabrics and sewing.
Cathy Sweeney has worked at TUS since its inception. She first started as a part time sales associate, then went to full time and now she is the General Manager for about the last four years. Prior to TUS, Cathy was a Physical Therapist Assistant for 24 years and in retail sales for Total Basket Cases for five years. She is happily married to Robert, who is a Fairfax County firefighter, and they have a rescued dog named Lucy. She also enjoys yard sales, antiques, decorating, and assisting in vintage wedding planning for friends!
Kimberly Ott Haines has been with TUS as a part-time Retail Associate since 2010 mainly working some evenings and Saturdays. She has a regular full-time day job working as a wonderful Registered Nurse in West Virginia. We are very thankful to have Kim working for us to help round out our Saturday crew. Kim is recently married and blissfully happy with two step children. She is very active in her church, Homeward Calling Ministries; and she loves camping, fishing and scuba diving (although she doesn’t get to do that much).
Carla Evans started working at TUS during October 2015. She enjoys working at TUS and she loves the company of her TUS teammates. She is working on going back to school and figuring out exactly what is best for her. She loves spending time with her children even when they drive her crazy! She is outgoing; she loves to read all types of books and she likes to hike. Carla also works part time in the food service industry.
Donna Crider has worked at TUS as a part time sales associate. Prior to TUS, Donna served on staff at Grace Community Church and is now employed at AbbaCare Pregnancy Resource Center as their Office Management Director. Donna continues to assist us at TUS as often as she can. She is happily married to Keith and has two sons, Adam & Aaron. Adam married her beautiful daughter-in-law Tara in 2014 and they brought their first son, (first grandson) into the family in 2016. Little Noah is their pride and joy. Donna enjoys ministry at Church of New Beginnings, serving clients at AbbaCare, her family (especially Noah), landscaping, entertaining friends at her home, antiquing, interior decorating, and working around her home.
Hannah Metz joined the TUS crew in January 2017. Throughout the week, she works full time down the road at Abbacare Pregnancy Care Center as the Client Service Director, but you’ll find her at the Uniform store every Friday and some Saturdays. When she isn’t working, Hannah enjoys photography, as she graduated college with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Having grown up in Bolivia, she really likes warm weather and finds any excuse to be outside. She also really enjoys being active, so the Uniform Store is a great fit.
Callie is a 10 pound miniature apricot Poodle that came to TUS in November 2013 with her sister Mollie. Callie and Mollie were adopted from The Chance Foundation located at Country Club Kennels in Catlett, VA. Callie is the clown of the two, and she garners a laugh when she chases her tail. She loves to play with toys, she is learning basic obedience commands, but most of all she loves to snuggle with you in bed or on the couch. She spends her days at TUS lounging around the back office, greeting and loving on customers. You may hear her security alert when you walk through the door!
Mollie is an 8 pound miniature apricot Poodle that came to TUS in November 2013 with her sister Callie. Mollie and Callie were adopted from The Chance Foundation located at Country Club Kennels in Catlett, VA. Mollie is the real snuggler of the two, and she will give kisses on your nose after she gets to know you. She loves to play with toys, and like Callie, she is learning basic obedience commands. Mollie also spends her days at TUS lounging around the back office, greeting and loving on customers. You can tell Mollie apart from Callie by her squeaky bark.
Dr. John Beggs is Lisa’s husband, and has graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and business administration. He has a normal day job as an senior electrical engineer; but in the evenings and on weekends, he wears many hats at The Uniform Store. He leverages his engineering and business skills to function as the Information Technology, accounting and payroll and tax compliance managers. He also does most of the regular maintenance around the shop and he has also done a large portion of the buildout construction work. Dr. Beggs’ hobbies are reading, flea markets, antiques and attending the theater.
